Agatized Ammonite Fossil

Agatized ammonite is a type of fossil where the original shell of an ammonite has been replaced by agate, a form of chalcedony which is a microcrystalline variety of quartz. This process, known as permineralization or silicification, happens when mineral-rich groundwater permeates the shell and deposits silica over millions of years. 
This agate is approximately the 180 million years old.
